Essay
My name is Adewuyi Mariam, and my chosen career is Nursing.
I chose nursing because it is a profession built on compassion, service, and the desire to care for others. From a young age, I have always felt a natural drive to help people, especially those who are sick, weak, or in pain. Nursing gives me the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives every single day.
I am inspired by how nurses combine medical knowledge with empathy, patience, and understanding. They are always close to the patients, offering comfort, monitoring their progress, and ensuring they receive proper treatment. This sense of responsibility and humanity is what makes the nursing profession special.
Choosing nursing also means choosing growth. The field offers many opportunities to learn new skills, specialize, and become a stronger caregiver. It will allow me to work in hospitals, communities, and even emergency situations where my skills can save lives.
Most importantly, I chose nursing because I want to be a source of hope and strength to others. Helping someone recover, smile, or feel comforted gives me joy and fulfillment. Nursing is not just a career to me—it is a calling, and I am proud to pursue it.
