Essay

My name is Akinlawon Damilola, and I have chosen nursing as my career because it is a profession built on compassion, service, and the desire to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives. Nursing gives me the opportunity to care for individuals during their most vulnerable moments, offering comfort, support, and professional medical attention. I am inspired by the vital role nurses play in promoting health, preventing illness, and assisting in recovery.

I am also drawn to nursing because it combines practical skills with continuous learning. The medical field evolves every day, and nurses must stay updated, which keeps the profession dynamic and intellectually stimulating. I believe I have the patience, empathy, and dedication needed to succeed in this field.

Furthermore, nursing offers diverse career paths, from community health to emergency care, pediatrics, and even leadership roles. This gives me room to grow and contribute in different ways as I advance in my profession. Ultimately, I chose nursing because it allows me to serve humanity, build a meaningful career, and fulfil my passion for helping others.
